Something I have always never believed in; openings.
I have always view the world as a place where man must toil and sweat to make it everything that he thinks it is going to be; that he is responsible for what happens in the future; that only he can find what he is supposed to do for the rest of his life...false.
In the past years I wanted to be a pilot, a writer, a ghost hunter, photojournalist, regular journalist, actor, navy guy and then i just gave up and said to heck with it.
That's not the answer, though.
"For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." (Luke 11:10)
I have gardening knowledge. I have been building this knowledge for 10 years. Without knowing it consciously, I have developed a great craft and skill. I talked with my father about career possibilities, and that led to a meeting with a young man who was basically doing what I want to do for a living; full time gardening and organics. I talked with him and guess what...he said he was actually looking for someone to mentor. How cool is that?
In the past weeks, I have been working with him, and more doors are opening than there are doors in "The House of Leaves". (my attempt to make a literary pun) But for real, I might be going to UGA in fall of 2011, I will be growing food for a local Co-op, I am getting networked with local people who are doing the same thing as me and I am involved with a community garden downtown.
All these years, I have wanted to find my own door.
But....
It's not up to me to open the door. It's not up to me to close it and open a window instead. That's God's job. Our job only requires one BIG word; faith.
If we don't believe that God can and will open those doors and help, then it won't.
Matt 4:4
We need to realize that we don't live by what we provide for ourselves, but of all the things that God provides and how He sustains our lives.
